Things that terrify, things I never thought I could do, and baby stats!

Things that terrify my 2-year old:

1. ANYTHING besides water in his bath...especially bubbles of any kind or stray hairs. If Parker sees a hair floating in the water, he stands up on one leg, crying hysterically as if he's about to be attacked. Luckily he hasn't had a reason to be afraid of poop in the tub for several months. I won't explain.

2. BUGS

4. Sharp turns in the car.

5. Lawn mowers.

6. The vacuum cleaner.

7. Crumbs or unknown specks on the floor.

Things my 2-year old SHOULD be afraid of (but isn't):

1. Me yelling at him.

2. Getting hit by a car (while running as fast as he can into the street).

3. Sticking objects in a blender while in use.

4. Falling off the counter.

5. Knives.

6. Scissors.

7. Permanent marker (refer to #1)
8. Teletubbies. Seriously.

Things I never thought I could (or would ever again) do 4 months ago...

1. Go to the doctor by myself with both kids.

2. Go to the grocery store by myself with both kids.

3. Wake up before either child is awake for the day.

4. Leave Avery long enough to go to the temple.

5. Go anywhere by myself with both kids (or multiple places in one outing).

6. Get both kids to sleep at the same time.

7. Take a nap.

8. Clean the house.

9. Make dinner.

10. Have some ME time!

11. Sleep for longer than 2 hours at a time! (Avery still isn't sleeping through the night, but last week she slept one night for 8 hours...hallelujah!)

I don't know when I blinked, but my newborn baby is now 4-months old! I had her 4-month check-up along with Parker's 2-year check-up today. Here are the stats...

Both kids are TALL! (Joe and I aren't...)

Avery: 26 inches (97th percentile)

Parker:36.5 inches (92nd percentile)

Avery is a chunk!

Avery:15.6 lbs (90th percentile)

Parker: 27.5 lbs (50th percentile)

Parker's head continues to top the charts!

Avery: 16.3 inches (70th percentile)

Parker: 20 inches (92nd percentile)
I also found out that it's normal to feel like Parker is ALWAYS sick. He has honestly had one cold on top of another (or the flu) since Thanksgiving! He's sick again...let's hope it's the last little winter bug he gets!

I laughed so hard about the tiny kittens. I agree about the teletubbies.

I am at my computer, by myself, laughing out loud!! What a cutie Parker is! And what a sensitive soul too! Isn't it funny how the things that should terrify them, don't seem to phase them? But like you said, a misplaced hair, and it's the end of the world!

And congratulations on your outings with 2 kids by yourself! It's quite the accomplishment!! And to get up BEFORE either of them...WOW, that wins the gold medal!

So sorry to hear that Parker is sick, yet again! That poor little guy! Let's hope he's getting all of his sicknesses done with for the next 10 years! Hopefully he'll be on the mend soon...

Thanks sooo much for the sweet card. (Unnecessary)But, thanks anyway...it was so thoughtful. I'm so glad things worked out so well with the slide show. Your family pictures are 2nd in line now!! Shouldn't be too much longer!

I love reading about Parker. Isn't it neat how we are all so unique. He's one of a kind and so sweet -- especially to grandparents ! ! ! That's so interesting how they are both on the tall end, I guess they have 2 tall grandpas so maybe that helped.

Love you and thanks for all your efforts on the Temple. And thanks to your grandparents, that's awesome they came to tend. Love you.

Your kids are both so cute!
I am with you on the sick kid thing. Carson and Katelyn always seem to have something! Two days ago I was thinking that it has been a while since Carson was sick. What happens the next morning? He wakes up coughing and has a runny nose. Go figure!

I laughed all the way through this! Two year olds are afraid of the weiredst things, and even though I try to explain to Emma that there's nothing to be afraid off, it won't make a difference. I can't believe Avery is 4-monts old!

I remember when I thought I would never be able to do ANYTHING again once I had my second...now I know I will never be able to do anything again once my third gets here. At least I will have a reason to make Matthew babysit while I run errands!

I forgot to comment on your last post that Aidan loves his curious George too, and won't go to sleep at night unless he too(George) is tucked in next to him, with his head on the pillow. Loved the pictures, too cute!

I noticed right away that the second baby grows so much faster than the first. Glad you are getting more sleep. I never quite figured out how to get both children napping at the same time but it always sounded so wonderful in theory. Good for you!

Another 3 1/2 inches and Parker can ride everything except for Indiana Jones at Disneyland!!!!! Your so funny and creative on all of your posts!!! I wish I was as funny as you:)!!!

I can't wait to meet Parker and Avery! They sound like so much fun. I can't believe how crazy your life must be sometimes with all the things Parker dreams up. Hopefully Avery will continue to sleep more at night...that is the part about newborns I don't like. See you soon!

It's great that you can still find humor in your sleep deprived state with a newborn and a 2 year old! It always amazes me what scares them. How wonderful that you are keeping track of all these things now, when they are still fresh on your mind.

I can't believe how much Parker and Avery have grown. They are really very special and so are you. Love you

I totally agree with the teletubbies that one will not be on in my home. Why does the doctor say it is normal for parker to always be sick??? I would be so annoyed if Gwen was always sick.

Christie said...

I promise, life after toddlers is very, very fun. Teletubbies do go away, along with running into the street, and falling off the counters. And as far as I know, nobody poops in the tub anymore.

What a cute picture of Joe holding Avery! Zac is terrified of specs of anything on the floor, too...he always thinks they are bugs and freaks out. I can't wait to get Zac and Parker together in a few weeks--two funny little boys!

I have never heard that about the kids getting colds that often and that is normal, good to know if it happens. Thanks for all the love.

Robyn what cute kids and they are so darn smart. If they are going to be tall well they have tall people in their dna.

Okay completely unrelated but...HOLY CRAP look at all of those miles that you have already ran!!!!! I hurt my back last week...it's almost better so I can catch up with you:) Glad you're there for the competition factor to keep me on my toes!!!!!!

I read Kimberly's blog first and then yours so I'm not sure if my tears are leftover from reading hers or from laughing about yours. What a fun post! Seriously...I laughed for a whole minute about the hair in the water.
