Are you as dumb as me?

QUIZ

Answer YES or NO to the following questions to determine if you are as dumb as I am....

  1. When you find out that the race packets for the Deseret Morning News 10 K that you are running in have to be picked up downtown, will you decide to take TRAX rather than drive?

  2. Since you'll be doing a lot of walking downtown, will you decide to take your bulky, awkward double stroller?
  3. Will you assume that your train will have handicapped access to get on the train with said double stroller?
  4. When you realize that there is NO RAMP when you open the first door, will you run madly from one door to the next in a futile attempt to find a stupid ramp?
  5. Will you accept help from a stranger to lift the stroller (with your unbuckled baby) up the narrow stairway?
  6. Will you block the aisle for most of the journey with your stroller?
  7. Will you (and your friend Kandis who was smart enough to bring only a small umbrella stroller) experience anxiety during the course of the trip downtown thinking about getting the stupid stroller back off the train?
  8. Will you meet several nice people who will take pity on you and the spectacle you've become and offer assistance?
  9. Will you be grateful that you have the stroller to use as a time-out spot to restrain Parker from picking the flowers at Temple Square?
  10. When you arrive at the Energy Solutions Arena to pick up your packets, (and discover that once again, there are lots of stairs and no elevators to the underground level you need to be at), will you carry the stroller with your now sleeping baby down the long flight?
  11. Will you once again accept assistance back up the stairs?
  12. Will you dread getting on the now packed-with-passengers TRAX train?
  13. Will you bark orders at your 2-year old to run up the stairs so you and another helping hand can get the stroller up?
  14. Will you stand awkwardly as he freezes mid-climb crying and unsure of what he's supposed to do?
  15. Will you watch with horror as the "helper" assumes you are holding onto the stroller as he lifts his end, tipping your (luckily buckled) baby forward?
  16. Will you sigh with relief as you walk back to your parked car after creating your last deboarding spectacle?
  17. Will you wake up at 4:45 the next morning to go downtown to run 6.2 miles?
  18. Will you drive?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you might be as dumb as me. If you answered "yes" to #18, atleast you're a quick learner!

Well, I may have said yes to just about all of those except you already told me how it went (and that wasn't too well!) So thanks to your trial run, I will not be as dumb as you and take my double stroller on TRAX downtown! At least you can laugh about it now, live and learn, right? Hopefully our kids survive our learning curve!

No, I'm afraid I'd sit home, eat cookie dough, and be lazy.

But that doesn't make me dumber than you (or smarter), it just makes me fatter and happier.

I can totally relate. When we lived downtown, we only did the double stroller thing once or twice on trax and decided it was just easier to drive to the library a few blocks away. Fun post though. Helped me remember the good(?) times!

Sounds like quite the fun adventure. But hey... way to be green and take the train!

Nicely done! Maybe I can't say yes to your exact questions, but I can describe my own dastardly, self-inflicted events that I'd rather forget. 6.2 miles huh? Very cool. I don't run anymore. I ride my bike. You've got me thinking about it again though. Your friend ran in pants?! In this heat?! Now that's crazy. Well, guess maybe its colder in the morning. That's another thing I don't do.... mornings. Later.

OMHeck! I only said NO to numbers 1,4,& 17 - And the last time we came out there I had the umbrella stroller, and that was still hard to get on and off the TRAX! (smile) what a spectical we were, but I was lucky to have my dad there to help me. Other wise I would have given up and sat down and waited in one spot while my parents came to pick us up. (smile) CRAZY!

It sounds like some of my anxieties when I go to Disneyland, I am not looking forward to having more than one kid for that one. The tram is scary!!! Sounds like you made it through.

I applaude your effort. Doing anything with two under two is pretty dang crazy. But to actually go downtown on trax, your AMAZING!

Loved this post...I answered yes to more than I'd like to admit :)

Oh my word!!! That sounds so exhausting (but you made it sound so funny:) Sounds like picking up the packet was harder than running in the race!!!

I can't get over how cute Avery is...she reminds me of a cabbage patch doll in that picture!!!

Ha ha ha! The adventures of a mom with young children. I am so proud of you. Now that it's over, I bet it feels good to laugh about even though it was really stressful at the time!

Memories...my friend and I decided it would be "fun" to take the kids to Zoo, on the bus. Do you know how many freaking times you have to change buses from Kearns to get to the Zoo? Anyway, we live and learn, glad you made it back home all in one piece!

I'm sure I have done something like that more than once :) Robyn you always make me laugh with your experiences! I love your blog. That seems kind of weird though that TRAX doesn't have handicapped access (cuz I thought all public or city owned entities were supposed to be accessible???)...oh well, I suppose you probably wore off lots of "stress" by running your race!

I think I have said this before YOU ARE NUTS!! Good for you. I had a love - hate relationship w/ my double stroller all the time. I am SO GLAD that all my kids can walk now and I don't have to take that thing with me anymore.

I think that's hilarious that Craig came to your door. Did you throw him off guard when you knew the game he was running? If you do decide to move, NSL is AWESOME!!! I'm kind of surprised how much I love it up here. I lost the ward directory (and your number), but I know Ryan & Joe have been playing phone tag. Our new number is 295-9400. Give me a call if you'd like to come up for games sometime. We'd love to have you. :)

Oh Robyn...why did I not include TRAX instructions with the stroller when I gave it to you? We have taken that stroller on TRAX to see the lights at Christmas time. It's doable...you just need your husband. And you need to be able to hold your two children and the diaper bag all at once while your husband folds the stroller and you carry everything on the train, while he carrys the stroller on and off. And you can abandon the stroller in some bushes near the Delta Center while you carry everything down the millions of stairs to collect your tickets and pray that no one has stollen the stroller when you get back. OR...you can call your bro-in-law to grab the tickets for you after work since he works 1/2 block away....:)

Great job on the running!!! I don't know how your bladder handles it! You're my hero!

That is too funny! I have had lots of adventures of Trax and strollers as well. It is funny how some people just watch as you struggle to load all your gear and herd all your kids with only two hands. The airport is the worse place for experiences like that! Glad to hear you made it through safely!

Sounds like the run was the easier than signing up and getting the packet! Way to go!!! You always amaze me.

This made me laugh so hard, probably because it would be something that I would totally do too! :)

Or, Will you ask your brother-in-law Matt to pick up your packet for you, since he works across the street from the "Delta Center"? Keep me in mind next time, Robyn:)
