Confessions

Lately I haven't quite measured up as the "homemaker" I'd like to be. Here are a few reasons why....

1. The two weeks worth of laundry stacked on my bed. Every night we put it back into the laundry baskets on the floor before going to bed, and every morning I put it back onto the bed with hopes that it will somehow get folded. Hasn't happened.

2. A month and a half ago we FINALLY planted a garden. We were so excited to eat the garden-fresh tomatoes. Doesn't look too promising...

...the peppers are even worse!

3. And finally, most of our meals really do resemble this...

Any suggestions?

well, the garden appears that it hasn't been watered much...maybe it has and they are still dying, perhaps try miracle grow. I know that it really helps my strawberries that before I used it wouldn't produce anything.

As for laundry, I feel your pain! I hate folding it, but I started as a routine, after making my bed in the morning I took a few minutes to fold the laundry. I have found if you just to a little bit each day you can keep up.....however, this also means you have a small load of laundry because you're doing a load each day.... (smile) Not all at once like I'm known for. I usually wait until no one has anything to wear and then do the laundry...then guess who's trying to fold it all in big clumps...so my suggestions are easier said than done.

As for your usual dinner servings...it looks great for kids, I know mine never eat what I make. They are happy with fruit and veggies. Especially my little vegitarian (sp) Madi. Except she loves hotdogs, but that is all she will eat..go figure. (smile)

i hope this helps a little. I would love to come do the laundry for you, but I live a little too far away. (smile)
love ya

I'm impressed that under the laundry your bed is made! I haven't made my bed in a while... As far as clothes go...
Solution #1:
I put the baskets on the couch in the family room and fold them while we are watching a movie together. I also make the boys fold their own and put them away. Sadie even puts her own clothes away.
Solution #2: Get more baskets.

The garden. You're waaaaay ahead of me on that one. Good for you for getting them in the ground! Just sneak out to Albertson's and get your tomotoes there...

You score an A++ for effort and that's what matters. I think your doing AWESOME!

Ha ha ha. I laughed so hard at this. I love the first thing on your list. That's not an uncommon occurance at our house. I always have the best intentions. Usually it ends up back and forth between the baskets and the bed so much that before I know it, it's all mixed up with the dirty clothes too and I have to start all over again. I wish you better luck than I seem to have.

The problem with laundry is that it's never done. I remember asking all you guys if you would just go naked for a few days so I could feel like the laundry was done for at least a day. Try that!

As for the garden...maybe a miracle will happen. Otherwise, there's always next year...or the farmer's market. (Just don't go to the same one Michael went to).

Dinner....can't help ya there! I'm trying to motivate myself in that area. Maybe I'll try Parker's idea of a great feast and see how dad likes it.

Thanks for the laugh!

There is no problem with your house or anything else. So what if the house work gets backed up a little bit. Your kids will appreciate that you spent your time with them and not with the laundry basket. Can I have that smoothie now?

I like the "get more baskets" solution. That's what I do. I get to where all my clean clothes stay in the basket and my dirty ones pile up on the floor. When the clean basket is empty, I fill it with dirty things and wash them, at which point I turn around and put the clean things in the basket and pile the dirty ones up on the floor.

I really like the picture of Parker and his "feast."

I think you're right on track! I love it! I hate gardening... officially now! At least yours isn't taunting you. Mine pretended to grow and produce... I don't think we're going to get anything!!! I hate trying to be perfect at everything... I give up!

Oh man, I laughed SO hard, when I saw pictures of your garden!! Since Geogre loves gardening, our plants etc. are always taken care. But if they would be left for me, well, they would be dead in a week! And the laundry pile... I have the same thing going on sometimes. But then again, I don't have a toddler AND a baby to take care of, so what's my excuse?!

1. Go swimming every day, and wear your swimsuits all day instead of clothes. That way, all you're washing is one item a piece.

2. Donate the unfolded laundry to charity.

3. Buy your vegetables at the store like slackers like me. Buy organic and feel like you're contributing positively to society.

4. LET GO THY GUILT on dinner. Or get takeout, hide the containers, and tell Joe you cooked all day for him. He'll never know.

Seriously who is judging? Anyone who has kids feels your pain. Good luck juggling everything. It gets alittle easier when their older.

As long as everyone gets fed, nothing else really matters! I just can't stop laughing at the laundry picture, because I believe I see little Avery's legs sticking out from that pile!

You are so funny. Those pictures made me smile. I think anyone with kids has all of those same moments. I HATE folding laundry and putting it away.

I'm glad it's not just me!

I am so glad to see that the "put the clothes on the bed to fold, then put back in the baskets at night because they didn't get folded" habit is not just mine!
Yipee! I don't feel so bad anymore.
I have no suggestions seeing how I am doing the same thing. Our diet consists of a lot of mac and cheese and spaghetti-O's. (the kids anyway)
And our garden, at least we have been up to date with that. We are waiting for our corn now, and our beans and raspberries and strawberries are looking pretty good. It just takes time, and you still have little tiny ones.
Baby steps right?
You are so awesome! I'm so glad to know there are others out there just like me!

Robyn you are so cute and so are the kids and somehow I love the unfolded clothes it makes me know how much fun you are having doing things with your family. I think that you are awesome and guess what - the garden will maybe have to wait until next year and you won't HAVE TO HARVEST! An extra bonus!!!!!

He he he! I showed this one to Chris. He thinks I'm the only wife in the world who puts the clean close on the bed, intending to fold them, only to put them back in the basket at night so I can sleep. Awesome.
