Our New Vehicle!

Don't get me wrong. I love our house. I really do. But it has some interesting (read: stupid) features that make me seriously question what the builders were thinking!

  1. There is no back door! If we want to enjoy our backyard (along with the less-than-luscious garden, or Price is Right hot tub), we have to go out the front door and around to the side gate. Heaven forbid we have to take those 20 extra steps to get back there!

  2. We have a BBQ patio. Why couldn't they have made this totally enclosed outdoor space into a backdoor? I guess because they were also brilliant enough to have the next-door neighbor's yard come right to the edge of our house! Our house is part of their fence...part of our property line is actually in their backyard. Hmmm....

  3. We have a single car garage next to a single car carport! Make up your mind, people!

When we first moved in, the garage belonged to our precious PIR Ford 500 (Thanks, Bob!) After Avery was born, I decided that it was WAAAAAAY too much work to back the car out of the garage before putting Avery in. I gladly handed the garage parking privileges over to Joe's 1998 Honda Civic. But with the recent purchase of our newest vehicle, Joe has happily given up his prime parking spot.

I'm pretty OCD about keeping the inside of my car clean and clutter free. The rules for this vehicle are even more stringent, however. The kids can have nothing but water to drink. Every crumb is removed immediately upon return. When the exterior gets splashed with mud, it's instantly wiped down. With the rising gas prices, this may soon be our only mode of transportation. Let me introduce you to the Trek Sport GoBug...

How fun! I got Matt one of those last year for Father's Day b/c he had always said how much he wanted one... too bad he's only used it a few times. (According to him it's always TOO hot or TOO cold...) I guess I just need to get a bike so I can go on rides with the kids. Have fun!

I love your house Robyn! All of the fun "quirks" are what give your house personality! I think everyone's first home has to have some spunk!!! And believe it or not, even in newer homes, there are still questions about what in the heck the builders were thinking!!!

The new GoBug is awesome!!! And what an amazing smile from Avery! She's in love!!!

Enjoy the bike rides!!

P.S. Way to go on keeping the car clean...I did pretty well at that until my kids got older and started hiding their trash!!!

You have such a cute house! I love it!

We have one of those bike trailers too...we should use it more (I think last time we used it, it came apart from the bike...eeek)!

I can't get over how stinkin cute Avery is with those big eyes and cheeks, I LOVE her smile so much!!!
Everytime I see a picture of her I can't help but smile:) And Parker is so adorable too, you have the cutest kids I've ever seen!

I love Avery's grin in that picture! She looks totally stoked to take a ride! How precious! Now I need one... and a bike and a helmet and some endurance... ahhh... maybe I don't really need it!

That would totally tick me off about the house too, no back door?!?!? I have never heard of such a thing. I am sorry to say it but that would only happen in Utah. Love the new vehicle, super stylish.

We have a bike trailer but it is mostly used by Shelby, she LOVES to take all the young kids around in it. I wish I could use it more often but my bike makes my BIG bottom hurt. Looks like a lot of FUN!!!

How fun! I'm jealous. I want some way to go biking as a family. I'll have to think on that one. We had fun the other night. Thanks for coming up. Somehow we ended up with a pretty pink bow and some sorty of funky hip-hop astronaut monkey.

I want a ride! That looks like so much fun for the kids. I'll bet they love it! You want to talk about quirks...at least yours has indoor plumbing. Remember the washer and dryer in California? It was in the garage!!! I can't tell you how many times I had to sneak out of the house in my underwear to get something out of the dryer. Only in California!

Whoa! That thing is seriously high-tech! You look hot with your biker helmet on!

It's always so exciting to get into a house we don't think about stuff like that, I think we have all had one.
Love the new "vehicle", do they make one grandmas can sit in??

Your kids look so thrilled to be going on such a special ride with Mom and Dad! I'm ashamed to admit that I don't even own a bike so such a fancy vehicle would not work out for us. Although, your point about gas prices makes me think that buying a bike isn't such a bad idea!

I think all builders are kinda crazy. I just went to the home show. Its amazing what they think of. I love your new vehicle!! I want to have a ride too. You would really get some excercise if you were pulling me around. I promise to only drink water. What do ya think? Hey, I love the look on Avery's face. What a big smile! What precious kids. I just want to squeeze them.

I am jealous of your clean car. All of our vehicles always look like a locker room since most of our kids like to take their shoes and socks off EVERY time we go somewhere in the car.

I sure do like a clean car - a clean house - and a clean ME! I think it is fun to talk about your unique house. I love where the green egg is. All of these houses we live in were designed BY MEN and they looked for ways to cut corners and what is so important about a back door - love ya lots!

How fun! My hubby bought one of those at a garage sale once & we've gotten a lot of use out of it (and by "we" I mean him, cause I am too much of a wuss to pull my kids behind a bike).

That is awesome. I remember thinking at the beginning of the summer about getting a double wide bike trailer that seats 4. Or just 2 for, 1 for each bike so we could go together but since Hailey is almost as tall as me...(we are talking a few inches to go only...) she wouldn't fit so well in one of those anymore. boohoo
The kids look like they love it though! Awesome!

If that's OCD keeping your car clean like that... I wish I was OCD. I'm not sure wich house your on, but I know there were a lot of things Chris and I didn't like about our first home and our second. Were all just working up to our dream home. Cute pictures in your last blog. My kids are like Parker, they would have gone happily as the bug-eater. Kids are great that way. I always loved that song too. Where did you get all the words? Crazy cool. Love ya. Later

Hey Robyn, I've got a favor to ask of you. Maybe you'll have time to do it, maybe not. I need you to take a picture of your hubby wearing a cool preisthood-looking, Jesus-style robe of some sort. I want him looking as though he is watching someone kneel and pray and he is standing behind them and reaching out to them. I'm entering an LDS art contest. I will ask your Dad and several others to do the same thing. Best picture will be used. Tell him to look all wise and knowing and stuff-k. Hope you've both got the time for such a silly and weird request. Thanks either way. Love ya. Later

Sorry, I forgot to tell you my deadline is Oct 10, so the sooner the better. You can email pics or post on blog and I'll pick it up that way. Thanks again.
