When you decide to take a road trip to Washington, first make sure everyone's healthy. Baby vomit isn't the best odor to travel with.
A lways find a hotel close to your final destination last-minute to avoid passing the throw-up bug to all five of Brian and Carrie's kids.
Survive the first night vomit-free, and haul all your stuff to the all-too-generous-to-let-us-crash-the-place-house-of-fun.
Happily watch your almost-3-year-old play for three days straight with his cousins Allie, Josh, Andy, Rachel, and baby Nate.
Ignore the mischief Parker and 3-year-old Rachel are creating--he's never played this well with anyone in his life! There's hope for the social-future of Parker after all!
Never move Parker from the "spider man" twin bed to the floor as previously planned. It'll be easier to sleep in another twin bed with your hubby than to endure the sure-to-happen-scream-of-all-screams when you move Parker out of his "special bed."
Go shopping. Spend money. Get pedicures. Rejuvinate with the girls! (Carrie, Allie, and Grandma Cathy)
T ry (unsuccessfully) not to cry as Joshua gets baptized. (Or as he wins 4th place in the pinewood derby!)
Opt to stay awake talking, and playing Rock Band each night. Also decide to stay a few hours longer than planned on Sunday morning for a special pre-trip feast.
Nudge your hubby every-so-often to make sure he's awake as the rest of you doze off. Cut an hour off the previous 12-hour drive time with the new and improved vomit-free-travel!
Thanks, Brian & Carrie, for having us! We had a blast!

Vomit-free is ALWAYS the way to be.
You guys are troopers! And Rock Band is always a must at Brian and Carrie's.
PS. Robyn, to answer your question about whether or not I cried at the finish line, I didn't cry at the finish line, but I did shed a few tears when I turned the last corner to find that the finish line was just a small blur during the last half a mile.....ha!
Sounds like fun..
I just have to give you props for even going to Washington in the first place with two kiddos in tow (and apparently some vomit). That sounds like a long drive. But I bet it was fun to hang out with family and cousins :)
Glad you survived and that the trip got better after the LONG drive there! Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
Sorry about the barf, but it does sound like you guys had a great time! Very cute pics!
I am so glad the trip improved after the puke. Hopefully you got the smell out of the car and it didn't end up like Seinfeld's car. (that had the smell that wouldn't go away!!)
Warshington is great! I'm so glad you guys were able to be there for Josh. And little Rachel is such a cutie! I'm glad Parker and her got along so well!
I'm sure you are glad to be home...:)
We are so glad you came to visit us up here in Warshington. We had so much fun!! Come again anytime, if you dare make the drive again :)
I'm still laughing about you guys sleeping in the twin bed and leaving Parker in a whole big bed by himself!!! Amazing what you'll do to avoid that sure-to-happen scream! Also, I think it's perfectly normal to cry at baptisms...and Pinewood Derbies!
The minute there was vomit in the car I would have turned around!!!!! How could you do that while traveling and being away from your own house?!?!?!?
Your hair is starting to get long. I guess it's bee awhile since we've seen each other. I miss my baby...when are you bringing her to visit me? She looks so much bigger too!! I'm glad you had a fun trip. I always love to watch the kids interact with cousins.
Ashley always plays better with cousins too.
It almost looks like Grandpa Roush in the last family picture (must be all the chrome! ;) he he)
So happy that you got to go this exciting get-a-way and be with the Gadds. How special for all of you. Your children are so special.
Wow, so you DID drive! I thought you for sure we flying, after that Tennessee trip. Heh.. you are brave! :)
You look cute in the pics and your hair looks so dark! I still always think of you as a blond. :)
Awww! How fun to go see family (all puking aside)!! Sounds like you had a wonderful visit! Your post is so cute, you always have such a way of telling a story:). The kids look so adorable...we NEED to get together! Annie just got Baptized this last weekend, it was AMAZING!!!
Great pictures! It sounds like it was a great trip...I think we need to take one soon :)
K, this comment is totally irrevelant, but since I said that it's suddenly okay! So, I was wondering around Deseret Book when Ben and I were in Utah and I stumbled upon a Temple Weddings book. Of course I started flipping through it...and I say ROBYN!! Since it was on sale, and it was a wedding book, and especially since it had your picture in it, I had to buy it. So, I'm just wondering if you knew you were famous? It has a picture of your reception/cutting the cake.
