You've GOT to be kidding!
So....yesterday was my RESCHEDULED doctor's appointment. It was supposed to be at 2:00, so I got there at 1:45 like a good patient. They checked me in and sent me to the waiting room, so I was sure that everything was going to go well. Joe was going to meet me there, but of course didn't leave work until about 1:59. I was certain that he was going to miss my appointment, but he swore he was going to make it. At about 2:15 the nurse called me back (Joe still wasn't there yet, but I was trying not to care or worry about it). As I walked back, she proceeded to tell me that THE DOCTOR JUST LEFT TO DELIVER A BABY, SO WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO RESCHEDULE YOU. I said, "Are you serious? This is the second time...." I couldn't really get anything else out because I was ready to start bawling and I was trying to stay composed. Luckily I had my sunglasses on my head, so I put them on as soon as I walked out so no one could see my ugly cry face (sorry Michael, I didn't have my camera so you could see it). I called Joe hysterically and told him not to bother coming. We were both really mad... Couldn't they have gotten me in to see a different doctor or something? GEEZ!!!!! At this rate I'm going to find out the baby's gender at my FIRST APPOINTMENT. Actually I decided to change doctors...not that I can be mad that he had to leave to deliver a baby...I would want him to deliver mine too. It's just that his office is far away and inconvenient and if I'm going to have to come back every other day for a rescheduled appointment, I'd rather go to someone close. My sister had a good recommendation from her sister-in-law for a doctor 5 minutes away, so I have an appointment NEXT WEDNESDAY. We'll see what happens.........

That's pretty lame! I mean, I understand that he had to go deliver a baby, but it's SO exciting to have that first doctor's appointment, and then when it gets pushed back like that, TWICE!!.. it's pretty dissapointing. I'm sorry. :(
How annoying! My doctor often had that happen but usually we could just see his nurse practicioner or the nurse and they could figure out most of what needed to be done. I guess since it's your first appointment though, you can't do something like that. Sometimes I would go in (with Sydney in tow) and sit in the waiting room for an hour...and then another hour in the little exam room. I definetetly don't miss having to go to the doctor! I can't tell you how many hours of "I spy, with my little eye" I have played.
Oooooh...that just makes me so mad! That is really annoying! I mean...you do want your doctor to be there to deliver your baby, but who will be there to check you each time you go in? You don't want the guy delivering to be a total stranger!
Robyn, they could have called you so you wouldn't have had to drive all of the way there. By the way where is your Dr. located? I do hope that you have a good Dr. Maybe you should change doctor's. You really want to get established with someone really reliable and good.
Only 7 more days until your next appointment...I guess you've waited this long, what's one more week, right?
Oh, that is just plain rotten luck! Of all the nerve - some woman going into labor just when you needed YOUR doctor. (That's what I would have thought anyway. But I'm not nice like that.)
Sorry for you. Hopefully the new doctor will be better!
P.S. I can't imagine you having "ugly crying face." You're way too cute.
Hi Robyn,
I can't believe that - I'm glad that you are finding a doctor closer to home. I always commuted for 2 hours when I was pregnant with John because when we moved, all the doctors in the new area refused to take me in because they had too many deliverys in January (when I was due) EVERY FREKIN' DOCTOR! I couldn't believe it. Then One day I drove all the way, had no one to watch my 2 other children so I had to bring them with me, and they canceled my appointment after I got there....long story short I had to drive back 2 hours and then drive all they way out again the next week. (having a doctor far away is never a good thing.....) I went in labor with John the day before my scheduled c-section.....so the hospital in my area stopped the labor so that I could drive 2 hours the next day and have my baby with my scheduled doctor.....What a bunch of freaks! Heaven forbid someone take 30 minutes out of their time to do a c-section......a whole 30 minutes would have killed them I'm sure!
ANyway I feel your pain babe - keep talkin about it, because it always helps a little.
Aimee
Hey...with 203 days to go, Freddy the fetus looks like a mini baby now. Amazing!
