Not A Telemarketer..........

Yesterday I got a random phone call from one of my old really good friends. I looked at the Caller ID and didn't recognize the name, so I thought it was a telemarketer, but I answered anyway and am SO GLAD I DID! It was my friend Gretchen...she was on my floor my Freshman year at BYU and then in my ward again a few years later. The last time I saw her was at my wedding reception and she was 6 months pregnant with her first baby. I guess she had looked up my name and found my phone number. I think it's SO COOL that she was brave enough to call...I always think about calling old friends, but then don't.
As it turns out, we would have probably eventually run into each other anyway. She lives ONE MILE away from me and is in my Stake (which in Utah means you have to live pretty darn close). It was so fun to see her and her cute kids. Another fun surprise was that she has a boy named Max who is the same age as Parker....they were actually born on the SAME DAY. They were cute...if we live here long enough, they'll go to school together...we're determined that they WILL be good friends! Here's a picture of Gretchen and her daughter Ava (she'll be 3 in October...hopefully I spelled her name right). She was a super cute girl...Parker thought she was hilarious. He laughed at everything she did.

We had a fun morning with 3 1/2 years worth of things to talk about....it was great! Her house was really cute. I was really jealous of her big backyard...another reason we'll have to hang out more often!

How fun! I remember Gretchen. That is so cool that you live so close to each other. And that is TOO weird that Parker and Max have the same birthday! They were definately meant to be friends. And I love the name Ava...That was one of my girl names that Jon shot down! I think it is so sweet! I am pretty impressed that she called you...I need to do that more often!

I thought that was so weird too that your family was meeting in the bay area until I realized it was the other Diane! This could get confusing!

I really like the name Gretchen. It sounds like a surfer-girl name...probably 'cause the girl I knew in HS with that name was a surfer. Anywho, I'll have to meet this secret friend of yours with her matching child.

I'm really glad you met up with an old friend and still have so much in common. I can't believe Parker and Max have the same birthday!!! That is so crazy!

How fun to meet up with an old friend and find that she lives so close.

See, it's good to answer when you don't recognize the name. Even if someone named Durga happens to call...

I would have loved to see Parker laughing at Ava. Don't you wonder sometimes what he must be thinking about?? I'm glad you have reconnected with an old friend...that's the best!!!

I realized that I really didn't know all that much about how you and Joe met and how everything evolved to you getting married...so I tagged you on my blog...can't wait to read!

That is so cool. I think of calling old friends too, but to end up living that close and having children born on the same day is just Awesome! (smile)

It's so nice to find friends that last forever........it doesn't happen for everyone. (smile) this is so neat!
