Delinquents in Training

Hello there. Have you missed me? I've missed you more than you know, little blog. See, the only thing that got me through last week was knowing that I had a good story to tell. The story that began early Saturday morning as our friends Colby and Kandis left on an airplane to some warm places of paradise, leaving us in the bitter cold with high hopes of a fun week with four kids under the age of 4. Before you get the wrong idea and think I am any sort of a Saint, don't. They're returning the favor in 24 days as we depart on our Western Caribbean Cruise. Sorry guys, but you're going to need another vacation. Why? These 4 kids are CRAZY! Let me introduce you to the little delinquents.

NAME: Parker
WANTED FOR: Peeing all over my floor.
CAPABLE OF: The defiance you would expect from a 16-year old.
NUMBER OF TIME-OUTS: 1,578
FORM OF COMMUNICATION: Screaming, whining, growling, yelling, screaching.
DISLIKES: Sharing toys.
LIKES: Taking friends into forbidden areas of the house.

NAME: Carter
WANTED FOR: Sleeping with scissors.
CAPABLE OF: Cutting up an old blanket, and stealing brother's binkie.
NUMBER OF TIME-OUTS: 543
DISLIKES: Sleeping in the basement.
GOOD AT: Being obedient (and staying in time-out), unlike partner-in-crime, Parker.
FAVORITE ACTIVITY: Filling bags, baskets, and boxes with toys to haul around the house.
NAME: Brooks
WANTED FOR: Happily eating spaghetti, then puking it up ALL. NIGHT. LONG.
KNOWN FOR: Being happy unless hungry.
ATTACHED TO: Binkie and blankie.
WANTS: To be one of the "big boys."
BEST KNOWN FOR: Climbing into the tub fully-clothed.

NAME: Avery
WANTED FOR: Breaking her arm when we weren't watching!
CAPABLE OF: "Limping" when crawling.
KNOWN FOR: Crying A LOT, and wanting to be held constantly.
DISLIKES: Sharing mommy's attention.
LOVES: Dancing.
TRYING TO: Walk.
LIKES: How hair sticks up when she rips her bows out.
RECENTLY: Dove head first into Parker's bath.

After 5 days at my house, Carter and Brooks were thrilled to see their Grandma and Grandpa at our doorstep. I have to admit that I wasn't too sad to see them go. But now our house is empty, my kids are bored beyond belief, and I'm ready for my next assignment. But this time, I'll just leave ice cream and cake out on the counter incase they get hungry, pillows on the floor incase they get tired, plastic on the carpet incase they get sick, or need to pee, a bounce house for Avery incase she decides to try breaking another bone, and scissors incase they get bored. And I'm getting ON the plane! Love ya, kids! Have fun, and don't kill each other!

I've been waiting for this post. I'm so glad you have survived. Or have you? I'm sure you're still trying to recover. I say you've earned a vacation and then some. It's over now, so we can look back and laugh, right? or can we....

Holy Cow! That is so nice that you would do that (although I guess you'll get to be kid free for a week soon!) Avery looks so cute, even with that pink cast on her arm. I bet that will be heaven to be somewhere warm and quiet :)

That was hilarious! How did Avery break her arm? She does look cute in her bright pink cast. You are very brave to take on extra kids! But hey, if you get to skip town without them, it sounds more than worth it! Have a fun trip!

oh my gosh! Sounds like a blast!! Poor Avery! That little cast is so cute! I am soooo jealous of your trip! I need a vacation! And trust me a fully understand the chaos that keeps moms from being able to call and chat with a friend!

Oh gosh I totally sympathize!! That pic of Avery made me think back to Gwenie's broken leg and it was crazy and awful! Sorry for all the craziness. Hopefully your getaway will make it all worth it!

I think I need a vacation after just READING about your week. Loved the delinquent-style post. Super cute.

Wow! I have to say your post definitely cheered me up after what I thought was a really hard day with just one baby. Now I'm extremely grateful that I don't have four!

I really enjoyed reading this, Robyn. You couldn't have been more creative. Love the picture of Brooks, he couldn't look more sinister. This was absolutely hilarious! Give Avery a hug for us, this totally reminds me of Sadie's broken leg at around 11 months old. Looking forward to enjoying the beauty of Mexico, Central America, and Bahamas with you and Chepe!

You are SOOO FUNNY!!! Only you could turn a week like that into a completely hilarious blog post!

Avery is so squishable I can't even stand it! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, those CHEEKS!! She is just adorable and Parker is so cute too, who wouldn't want to trade kids with you for a week?!

Don't feel bad about Parker peeing on the floor...Minnie just learned how to take off her diaper and this morning when she woke up she promptly removed it, stood on Chuck's pillow to look out the window, and peed all over it:)

That was funny! That week was so crazy. Thank goodness you get to have your own getaway soon. Wish I was going too! Thank goodness for treadmills, naps, and cartoons....at least that's what gets me through my days. Love ya!

LOL. You make me laugh. You're such a good mom no matter how much you try to down play it. Avery is adorable in her pink cast. Sounds like you have had your hands very very full. Can you believe Parker is almost 3?

Geeze Robyn! Well, at least you got your turn over first. And you didn't have the fear involved with knowing what was coming.
Now its gonna be their turn and they've heard all the horror stories. Ut oh. :)
Sorry about Avery. It's pretty tough to break a little kids bones, they're still rubbery and flexible and stuff. Whatever happened, it must have been pretty bad. Poor kid. Poor you too.
The wanted posters are pretty cute. Cute little stinkers. :)

That is HILARIOUS!! At least you could console yourself with the fact that they are returning the favor! I can't imagine doing that with service in mind - it wouldn't work for me, and so the "service" would be null and void. I'm kind of a jerk - I tell my friends I'll help you out if you're in a bind but I don't do daycare and I won't watch your kids unless its an emergency. Isn't that rude! Can't help it, had some truly need friends and they took advantage - gave me such a bad taste in my mouth. Hope you enjoy your cruise! You deserve it! Oh BTW what is your team name for Ragnar?

HAHAHA!!! I love this post Robyn! When you first told me about all this I felt AWFUL for you and now look at me, I'm laughing my guts out... don't worry, I haven't had spaghetti for a while. hehehehe.

You're so great. Creative, funny, beautiful, smart, talented- I love you!

(And Kandis is right, you are going straight to heaven.)
