Country Music Marathon

Since my parents moved to Nashville, Joe's been talking about running in the Country Music Marathon. A few months ago, he decided that this would be the year. His training wasn't exactly up to par, so he decided to run the 1/2 Marathon instead.

I ran this marathon with Joe when we were first married. I seriously thought I was going to die during the race, but crossing the finish line made the pain of the previous 26.2 miles disappear. I started crying and felt like I'd just won $1,000,000. Seriously.

Joe has run in several marathons since, and for me this 1/2 marathon was no different--I always get choked up watching the runners cross that finish line. Especially the ones that look like they want to die. Kind of how I must have looked. I'm always a little jealous, wishing I were the one running. Not the one wanting to collapse, but the one crossing the finish line.

This has made me consider doing this to myself again. I have 5 days to decide. I'm leaving it to all of YOU to help me make up my mind. Am I crazy? Should I do it? Will I die? Should I be more like my husband? He doesn't look like he just ran 13.1 miles, but he feels pretty darn good! I probably won't win $1,000,000 anytime soon, but in October I can definitely feel like it! Help me out, people! And who's with me? I'll feel a lot better if others join the "fun"!

I bet it is so much fun to see your parents! I try and find any excuse to visit home. Too bad they don't always get me there. Have fun!

You DEFINITELY should run the marathon!!! You've stayed in such a good shape the whole time you were pregnant with Avery, that I'm sure with some training, the marathon will be a piece of cake to you... and even if it turns out to be a little heavier 'piece of cake', I think you will feel super good about your accomplishment!

You have to do it Robyn!! My neighbour recently posted a whole thing about running, you should check it out on my blog ("Wiberg" link on the right under my blog list) She totally inspired me to start!! Plus she has this really cute running tracker on the bottom of her blog, and who wouldn't want one of those, right?!?

How about the half marathon? I get weak in the knees thinking about running a full marathon! Of course, knowing you, you'll go for the gusto!

You must be so athletic. Didn't you just have a baby? You are my hero for sure. I say go for your dreams. I'll sponser you. Whatever that means.

See I have a different view then those above. Having 2 kids and everything that in tails is hard enough let alone training and then running a HUGE race. But then again I HATE running so I don't understand wanting to go through that torture, if you do understand then go for it.

Are you crazy? Do you want to lose a toe? Come on! Do something else challenging like writing a book or keeping a journal or visiting your brother in Provo every once in a while...

I'm all about supporting you in your endeavors but I just don't think I could ever join you! ;) First I HATE running and second, I'll be 8 months pregnant at the time of the St. George Marathon! But you have fun!

If you think you can, then you do it!! Just don't stress yourself out...I ran a 5K and had an awesome experience...I know, so much much less than a marathon or a 1/2 for that matter, but it was the race for the cure and I felt so good to be running for a cause. I know you can do it, if for nothing else than yourself!

That's really cool. I really want to run a marathon even if it is a half. It would definitely be fun/crazy ;)

Oh my GOSH ROBYN. If you are even talking about running in a marathon you will most likely do it. Running a mile is almost impossible to think of but I know you. If I could I would. I was a runner when I was young and I loved it because I felt so free. Go for it Robyn.

You should make it a tradition of running the Country Music marathon every year. I love the pics of Avery and Parker below...they're getting so big!

I'm hoping to run the St George Marathon next year- run it this year and then next year with me! I'll be in Utah soon for Chelsea's baby- for SURE I will make Mandy take me to see you or you could come to Chelsea's and see Chad too!

Robyn, I'm with...Darci...You just ran the equivelant of a marathon in February!! It's called giving birth...I don't know how you can even run without losing all bladder control...maybe that comes after baby #3?

I get teary eyed when people cross the finish line...it ALMOST makes me want to do it...I love the two
5Ks a year I do and that's good enough for me.

Who do these marathon people think they are anyway? Signing yourself up for misery?

I just have one final thought...you should always follow your heart and live your dreams...
but just a friendly reminder...your knees in the last St. George marathon.

Miss you lots!

Robyn, I could see the conditioning that is required to complete a marathon. Joe is a machine. But my biggest question is what do you think about for 26 miles? As for support, Aly and I support you. You know what you are getting yourself into.

He looks great for just having finished! And if this is your thing, go for it! I'd rather slog up a mountain than run a marathon of every Friday. But that is just my preference in masochistic practices. :-)

Ok, I am going to comment and say I am guessing you went with Yes? Seeing my first 1/2 marathon is two weeks away I am going to say the THOUGHT of a whole marathon has slipped into my mind-for a few seconds-but then I decide that I think I will stick with the 1/2's. Ya know, we are planning on running the logan 1/2 in Sept. We would love for you to join us! :)
