Comet Surprise

Last week was just one of THOSE weeks. The sleepless nights are definitely catching up with me. I should be napping everyday when Parker naps, but I love to relish in the peacefulness of a Parker-free home and do more important things...like read blogs! Anyway, Friday night I was talking to Joe on the phone while he drove home from work counting the seconds until he walked in the door to rescue me. Parker was playing quietly in the kitchen. I commented to Joe that he was probably doing something he shouldn't be, but I didn't want to get up to check. Two seconds later, Parker ran into the living room covered in greenish powder and asking me to open a bottle of oven cleaner. I followed his powdery trail back to the kitchen to discover an empty bottle of comet, and a greenish white pool of it on the floor. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I threw Parker in the tub, waited for Joe to get home to supervise while I mopped the floor with the pile of Comet. We got all cleaned up and I realized that I hadn't taken a picture for my blog. Now that really made me upset. Parker was quite a sight. I guess I've never explained to him that we don't empty cleaning supplies all over the floor...or all over our clothes, hands and face. I don't think he put any in his mouth, but that should also have been pre-explained. Oh well...at least his adventure gave me a few moments of peace!

Parker must be taking lessons from Max! I'm just glad someone else goes through this too! Hopefully Avery wont take lessons from Parker! Maybe she'll just sit back and quietly observe! Let's hope!

Ha! Great story. Did you read my one about the pepper? Not quite as messy I'm sure though. Ryan has done the same thing with the comet while I was busily cleaning the bathroom. Luckily our can was nearly empty. Good thing he didn't ingest any of it. Kids! They do the most creative things with their time, don't they?

You know you're a blogger when something bad happens and the first thing you think of is to reach for your camera to post it on the internet.

Too bad you didn't capture this one- sounds like we all would have enjoyed a laugh. Sorry, though, for you. What a pain.

I had to laugh at Christie's comment. You ARE a true blogger! I love the pictures you have posted on the side of your blog of the kids. That look that Parker is giving reminds me of the look he was giving me when I was there with you....such an imp!

Good think Parker couldn't open the oven cleaner himself. You may have had a hazardous waste cloud in the kitchen. Kids!!

You know your blog makes me remember one Sunday I had gone to a meeting and your mom had injested paint thinner and had to be taken to emergency and have her stomach pumped. These times are are really hard and then you look back. I love the Parkerisms.

My main thought? Kids in another room not making any noise is rarely a good sign! The other day Tori was found slathering Elmo with suntan lotion that she got to by using some random box as a stool. I laughed after I discovered she hadn't ingested any yet.

Maybe it is better than we don't live closer. I can only imagine what the messes would look like that we would have to clean up. Luckily it was only on the floor and not in his mouth!

Yeah, I'm glad you were thinking that Parker was probably doing something he shouldn't have been doing and he was. I wish I could've seen it.

This story sounds all too familiar...we're probably going through the same things right now!

Comet! Hmmm...I bet he was pleased with the disaster he created! I'm amazed at kids ability to get into stuff. They don't seem to care if it is super dangerous either. Good thing he didn't try tasting it...I bet it is awful tasting.

These will be fun memories when Parker gets married and you can share them with his wife. I love reading your blog. What a great family history you are keeping. It was fun reading the memories of you dad. What a neat guy.

Love you, Mom G
