Diapers and regularity!

About a month ago, Avery had about 4 diapers left. For a newborn, this equals about 2 hours. I sent Joe to the store to replenish the supply. Since Sam's Club is closer than Costco, he went there. This has proven to be disastrous in the past (remember the bread incident?) but I didn't think he could fail at diaper buying. I told him what size to buy, and I thought he knew how I felt about generic diapers for newborns. I actually don't mind the Kirkland brand diapers for Parker, but they're actually more expensive than Huggies now...go figure. Sam's Club diapers are a different story. So when Joe came home with a box of TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN crappy diapers, I was a little bugged. When I found out that they weren't really any cheaper than the good ones, I was a little more bugged. His thinking was that the Huggies box held a lot more diapers, and she might grow out of them before we finished the box. So he bought the smaller box (216 diapers) and saved $1.08! Before blogging about it, I decided to give the diapers a try. I had no choice. All four I had left were gone. I really did appreciate Joe going to the store for me, and I wasn't about to brave Sam's Club on my own to return them the next day. After a day of using them, however, I decided that they really weren't so bad after all (as much as I hated to admit it). That was when Avery was pooping five times a day (or more). Now the poor thing is only pooping once a day or once every other day. My almost-two-year old is (unfortunately for me) MUCH more regular...could it be the difference between women and men? The diapers are definitely not holding up! I don't know that Pampers or Huggies would be either, given the circumstances. I so love to be right, though, so I think I will blame the countless blowouts on the diapers. The first 200 were fine, but these last 16 are just not going to work! Do you think my hubby will fall for it? To his credit, he has successfully bought me bread several times now. I'm counting on the right brand of diapers from now on, too.

You're so funny! I have to admit, I've never been willing to try any generic brand of diapers...the Pampers and Huggies leak enough with newborns (at least my boys...thank goodness we've gotten past that stage of wetting through clothes five minutes after I changed them!) I would probably be mad if Matt did that, too.

I am sure this comment by me is unexpected but I couldn't help but comment on your two cute kids! I didn't know that you lived in Utah. I am in Holladay! We just had a baby boy two months ago and loving life. Little Avery is adorable - I bet you kiss those cheeks several hundred times a day!

That's hilarious. Ryan's the same way. I can tell him the size, the brand name, and even what isle they're on and he still can't seem to get it right. I'm thinking maybe he does it on purpose so I won't ask him to go to the store for me anymore. He's pretty tricky that way.

That is so funny! I am the same way when it comes to diapers. I swear by Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers! I can't bring myself to buy generic diapers! I know how annoying it is to have an economy size of something and not want to finish it because you actually don't like the product! I am sure most husbands have made this same error (mine included!)

I actually like the target brand diapers. But I am cheap whether its diapers or wipes or whatever. You are so dang funny!

With Annie I had to use the good ones. With Max I found that the wal-mart brand worked great. Now with Minnie I tried wal-mart brand and could not finish the package...had to go back to the huggies and pampers!! See ya tomorrow, can't wait!!!

Imagine my horror when the doctor told me that a certain rash may be caused by the disposable diapers I was using. I had to live with the threat of using CLOTH diapers!!!! I don't know what I would have done if the rash had not gone away. Try justifying that one!

I totally understand, getting the right diapers is key. For Gwenie Pampers was the only ones that worked. Swaddlers and then crusiers, everything else she leaked and I tried EVERY diaper out there.

I am a Pampers girl! You already know my obsession with diapers...

Maybe you need to try the expensive ones on Parker, maybe it will have the opposite effect on him too!

Oh, husbands just cannot win. We make them go to the store for us, thinking they will obey our orders to the tee. Then they don't and we're bugged (as we should be!). So then they never want to go for us again, but we're home with all these little kids and it's so easy to send them. It's a vicious cycle, I tell ya.

Oh my gosh Robyn!! I remember the days of diapers but disposable ones were unheard of and I had three in diapers. Cloth diapers were the thing and I didn't have a dryer either. I would hang the diapers out on the clothes line and they would freeze solid and I would have to bring them in to finish drying. There were many other experiences to horrible to write about but oh my gosh - love your blog. You know husbands just can't win and they are clever too. We did have indoor plumbing though and I was truly greatful for that.

You crack me up! Our poor, poor husbands! Thanks for hanging out with me tonight! I had a lot of fun and I hope Avery's tummy feels better soon! I tagged you BTW! Talk to you later!

I am old enough that pretty much my only choice was cloth, or let me get it for you...cloth. Wow I am really old! I have looked at the selection of diapers and I am really glad I do not have to buy them. I am sure I would get it wrong, most of the time!

Ok, so here's my little tidbit on diapers. It's Huggies SUPREME exclusively until size 3. Then it's Costco brand all the way. I give Joe lots of credit for doing his best. It is rather funny how men seem to overlook the ever important details!!!

A really big thank you for having 3 children last week! Spencer has already started to tell me stories...so here's the first apology..I'm so sorry! I'm sure we'll talk very soon! Thanks again!
